Research at the CII is multidisciplinary, and integrates efforts of scientists, clinicians in the fields of molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, neuropharmacology, bioinformatics, animal behvior, neurology, psychiatry, pathology, and veterinary medicine.
Broad aims include:
- Investigating the role of infectious agents in the pathogenesis of acute and chronic diseases
- Dissecting the mechanisms by which bacteria and viruses, and host responses to infection, result in disease
- Finding strategies to reduce the global burden of morbidity and mortality due to infectious diseases
